On the plus side, it's a great opportunity to try the Sense Controller's finger-tracking with which I was able to flick the V at everyone who spoke to me. In between levels, NPCs spouted incomprehensible lore at me for lengthy periods while I was locked in place unable to move anything but my arms and head, a pet peeve of mine when it comes to VR immersion. It might not be hugely impressive as a game, but as a showcase for PSVR2 Call of the Mountain is staggering. Fans of the Horizon series will find lots to enjoy about the story and the way it links in with the main games, but for people like me who were left cold by the interactions in the mainline Horizon games the story in Call of the Mountain is by far the weakest part of the game. In Call of the Mountain you play as the internal monologue of Ryas, a man so uninteresting I soon learnt to tune his voice out until it became nothing more than an annoying hum in the background somewhere. In between the 'wow' moments (and don't get me wrong, there are plenty of them), I just couldn't help but feel slightly bored. So it's a shame then that the world and mechanics propping it all up are distinctly average. There were times during Firesprite and Guerrilla Game's collaboration where I was simply boggled by how beautiful it all was where panoramas of distant waterfalls and snowy mountains wrapped in the wreckage of long dead machines took my breath away, and where lush forests and glittering rivers made me forget the real world beyond my headset.Īside from maybe Kayak VR: Mirage, I don't think I've ever played a VR game with visuals as gorgeous as this one. Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainmentįor many of PSVR2's early adopters Horizon Call of the Mountain will not only be their first experience of Sony's new headset but perhaps VR in general, and what an experience it'll be. They're all beautiful and memorable sights in their own right, but when it comes to video games, I'm pretty sure Horizon Call of the Mountain delivers some of the greatest virtual vistas I've ever witnessed. The Mavora Lakes in New Zealand, the Tokyo skyline, the reflection in my bathroom mirror of a morning. I've seen some fine views in my time on this planet. As we progress, we acquire raw materials that serve us to produce new items and improve existing ones.As a technical showcase for what's possible with PSVR2 Call of the Mountain excels, even if its world and mechanics sometimes fall short. In addition to serial enemies, on our way become much more powerful bosses. As is the case in the main series, clashes are dynamic, and during them the key to success is to be in constant motion, perform instantaneous dodges and aim at the weak points of opponents. Traversing the lands belonging to the tribes of Carja and Nora, getting to know their inhabitants and completing the tasks set before him, the protagonist climbs powerful mountains and fights fierce duels with machines, on the battlefield making use of his bow. Ryas is a true master climber, Archer and Hunter, and during the gameplay often has the opportunity to demonstrate their skills. Horizon Call of the Mountain Download is a first-person shooter ( FPP). Although the hero will not be doomed to a lonely crossing, he will have to earn the trust of characters who perfectly remember his past full of shameful deeds. Unexpectedly, King Avad decides to show him mercy and spare him in exchange for avoiding execution, Ryas must answer the mountain’s eponymous summons and investigate a new threat. Wanting to atone for his actions and regain his honor, Ryas allows himself to be captured and imprisoned by the people of Carja. Among the latter was Ryas, the main character of the production in question. When the tyrant was overthrown by his own son – Avad – who gave up his invasions and chose the path of peace, the soldiers loyal to his father became outcasts and took refuge in the Citadel of Sunfall, earning the nickname The Shadow czar. One such tribe is the Tsarja, who under the Mad King Jiran waged bloody campaigns against other peoples. The world is dominated by machines similar to animals and dinosaurs, while people live here in communities resembling prehistoric tribes. Horizon Call of the Mountain Download takes us on a journey into a post-apocalyptic science fiction universe. Horizon Call of the Mountain Download – Review:
